Sow molds, sow mould, skim pan, dross pan, dross bin are cast steel molds for the casting of aluminum ingot for remelting storage and, or transportation. Through our experience in designing durable castings, we CSM has expanded our products scope including Skim pan sets, sow moulds, dross containers and moulds. Dimensions and design can be customized to customer requirements, including the casting of customer's logo, and additional of feet and,or lugs for material handling.
Material
We CSM offer alloy steel sow molds which are developed to withstand the sever cast house environment ans is designed to endure both mechanical and thermal shock. The material is similar to ASTM A27 GRADE 65-35, ASTM A148 GRADE 90-60, CAST STEEL 1028, CAST STEEL AISI 8630.
Dimensions
The mold sizes listed in the following table will satifafy most requirements. The low profile design was developed to reduce the shrinkage cavity in the aluminum casting, ans is now widely used by most major producers. They can be also customized to your specifications.
All dimensions are in inch.
Production Process
1. Wooden pattern Production
2. Molding
3. Pouring
4. First cleaning
5. Heat treatment - grinding (inspection)
6. Rough machining (inspection)-finishing machining (inspection)
7. Packing-delivering
Quality Assurance
The fabrication route is governed by the provisions of the implemented Quality System ISO 9001: 2000. The standard documentation ensures the full traceability of every process step:
Manufacturer test certificates according to DIN EN 10.204 § 3.1 including chemical composition, mechanical properties and non-destructive examination;
Dimensional check supported with a "as-built" sketch;
Record of the heat treatment chart
